5 Years on the Run

The Orleans Street Gallery celebrates 5 years of exhibiting contemporary Chicago art with an anniversary exhibition highlighting breakout artists, many of whom, have since exhibited nationally and internationally. Reception attendees will have the opportunity to meet many of the artists and learn about their work first-hand. Featuring live painting by Violet Jaffe (Arlington Heights), and Elizabeth Parker (Rolling Meadows), a happening by Chicago based performance artist Chris Roberts, and an opportunity to trade a T-Shirt for an original "I am Trying to Figure out Where I Fit In" T-Shirt by Nathan Keay.

Picturing Mary: Contemporary Images of the Madonna is group exhibition featuring fresh interpretations of the Virgin Mary, stretching traditional representations and crossing cultural boundaries. Through painting, photography and mixed media, Chicago-area artists reflect upon and rephrase the Marian image. Selections span the allegorical and the literal, the maternal and the divine. Adam Brooks and the finalists will be present at the opening.

Anne Lass: Wandeln

Artists: Anne Lass

"Wandeln" translates as strolling or transformation. It is the title Danish/German artist Anne Lass has given her series of photographs chronicling her more than two-year journey to the Midwest via Denmark, Germany and Australia. The exhibition consists of photos in which Lass explores different forms of living space and the relation between the images and the locations they depict, the dream world and reality.

Daily life provides the inspiration for local artists Pat Lagger, Deirdre Schanen and Sadia Uqaili in this three person exhibit.
